Chance isn't actually owned by anyone; he is a free droid, who goes where he believes there will be the most excitement. He is currently the companion of Shadow. He has often been known to disobey orders or reinterpret them to be more "interesting." The only time he's well-behaved is in combat, as he doesn't believe he's done enough with his life yet to lose it recklessly. Although his primary function is starfighter repair, Chance also has upgraded slicing abilities (which Shadow mostly uses to steal credits from Imperial accounts and to create false identities).
History:
Chance first encountered Shadow on Toprawa while he was trying to escape the Imperials. Since then Chance has stayed with Shadow, who provides him with plenty of excitement and also respects the little droid's judgement. While neither is trusting by nature, over time they have come to rely and even depend on each other.
