Unlike most astromechs, who are identified as either male or neuter, Jo insists on the female pronoun and acts like a precocious girl of about 10 standard years. She tends to flightiness and mood swings, as well as the stubborness typical of the R2 series, but also seems to have affection for her pilot.
History:
Jo was assigned to Zoom when he joined Red Squadron. Used to flying Z-95s, he quickly came to appreciate the help and warnings from his new backseat passenger. He took to calling her "tail-gunner" after a mission in which he was solo in a two-seat Y-wing and Jo took control of the ion cannons to disable some attacking TIEs. As the fighters were only disabled, this was technically allowed by her do-no-harm programming...
